I did tidy up!!

Fellow quilters, you make me smile!  Your humourous responses to my last post definitely confirmed we all make a mess when sewing and that I really shouldn't worry :)

I did tidy up though - you saw the 'befores' and here are the 'afters':

And so today, I could make a new mess! I made two more Pants Bags (for my cousins in Germany), a cushion for my sewing room and I started a new lap quilt.

The Pants Bags were made out of my scraps and stash so I never quite know what design they'll end up as until I put the fabric piles together. These are #4 and #5 ... just two more to make before my Mutter goes to Germany next month:

And this little cushion was made for me from the leftovers of Aunty Ruth's layer cake quilt:

Please pardon the fugly chair - it's vintage Lloyd Loom :)

I'll post more about my new lap quilt later but here is the fabric I've chosen for it:

That's enough for one day. You can tell the evenings are drawing in - I covered  my legs with my lap quilt and look who joined me a minute later! I can count on both hands how many times in 3 years this little rescue cat has sat on my lap. Thank you, Nell - each time is precious:

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend.

You decide!!

Oh dear, my fellow quilters - do you think I had better tidy up a bit before I start on the following:
  • 4 more Pants Bags for Germany
  • At least 3 new cushions for my SIL
  • A quilt for my 'maman spirituelle' in France
  • A few mug rugs for work colleagues
  • A charity quilt for a McMillan fundraising event

In my defence, we have had a busy few weeks :)

Sewing Room Tidy Up!

I really really wanted to sew yesterday but when you see this you'll know why DH 'insisted' we had a tidy up first:

I know, I know it's a mess! What can I say? 'My name's Jenni and I'm disgusting!!' But come on who doesn't prefer creating new things to tidying up? And I have been busy ... pathetic excuse, Jen! Here are a few before and after photos. DH was a huge help - lots of stuff is going to the dump and charity shop today!

My little sewing table - where you can see I do most of my cutting! There's at least 5 projects worth of scraps on there:

And after - now doesn't that space look more inviting:

I am disgusting!

And after:

This fabric on the towel rail reminds me - I must pick up my Farmers Wife Quilt again soon:

And after:

Here's my main sewing table - not sure where those cushion pads are going to go but they can't stay there:

And after - and there's my cute little charity shop table just waiting to find its place!

It was hard work but sooooooo worth it! Note to self: do not let it get like this again ever this year :) and today no housework just SEWING ... yippeeeeee :)

A weekend of scrumptious sewing!

I love my work (most of the time) but I love my patchwork and quilting more (and ALL of the time!) So this weekend I devoted lots of hours to sewing in my loft and I'm now on schedule to finish a couple of quilts :) First up, I had to clear up the big mess left behind by the Farmer's Wife!

Before:

And after, with just a wave of my wand (I wish!):

That's better - a tidy sewing room meant I could finish the back of Aunty G's lap quilt - a rather large one (70" x 70" ish) so it required quite a bit of piecing. I used some bits left over from the front and I purchased some extra yardage of one of the charm pack squares (used in the front) and it looks like this:

Secondly, I went to work on a lap quilt I'm making for Nick's cousin, Marisa, who lives in America (PA). I started this a while back and got stuck because I made the 21" centre square first (no pattern, just made it up as I went along ... oops!) and then couldn't decide how to build out from there (that'll learn me!) but the 'inspiration fairy' came a visiting and this is where she took me:

Very bright and cheery ... just like dear Marisa ... now I need to think about a border and that'll be another quilt top finished ... YAY!

Did you have a good weekend sewing??

What a MESS!!

How did I let my sewing room get into this state??

And this ...

I think there's a table underneath there ... somewhere!

Even Nell is in despair - are ALL those packets of Dreamies empty, Mummy??

Time for a little tidy up, I think!! Ewwwww - look at the dust :(

I just need to make a start!! Not a lot of room on those tables either, hey??

Or on the fabric hanger - and that dress needs to be put away before I turn it into a cushion!!!

Oh, I see you're going to be a great help, Nell - make yourself comfy and I'll try not to disturb you too much!!

Oh, happy days!! Come back and see me later :)
