My 200th post :)

I don't like wishing my life away but I have been so looking forward to today since like Monday afternoon! It's Friday and I have been sewing this evening since I got home from work and I intend to sew ALL WEEKEND toooooooo!

Only a little finish to share ... I've made another Pants Bag for my Kansas friend Carla @ Creatin' in the Sticks ... well, for her daughter actually who is a huge KU Jayhawks fan (yeah, I had to Google them too!) and here are they are having a grand time in their colours:

So out of these fabrics:

And inspired by Maria's super houses, I made this:

And now there's going to be another owner of a Pants Bag ... they're getting everywhere!!

Some progress on my Macmillan Cancer Support charity quilt which I started quilting tonight. I've done some straight line quilting along the sashing (ugh, my least favourite type of quilting) but I'm not sure about it ... why does it ruche up and get stuck over where the seams join -  am I going too slow / too quick?

And all those knots to bury:

DH thinks I should now stipple the butterfly blocks and borders ... hmm, we'll see!

And so this is my 200th post! Who'd have thought it? Not me, that's for sure. Like quilting, I'm still an amateur at blogging - I make mistakes, I get stuck in a rut, I think everyone is much better at it than me and it's not always pretty but I love it! And I love my followers - they really make it worthwhile - so I'm going to put all their names in a hat tomorrow morning and the winner will receive these 4 Christmas fat quarters I especially bought this week as a little thank you from me:

Have a fabby weekend, whatever you're up to. Linking up with Amanda Jean @ Crazy Mom Quilts and Sarah @ Confessions of a Fabric Addict:

  1. Oh wow I just love those pants bags! So it's a double sided bag, with a house on each side? Brilliant! I have a feeling Maria's house quilt is coming my way soon... oh and congratulations on the 200th blog post, that's good going! And how sweet of you to have a little giveaway :-) Have a wonderful weekend sewing. There's nothing better when the weather is so awful. Oh and by the way I think you are great at quilting, and at blogging too ;-)

  3. 200 posts! Yay! I'm so grateful for blogging, for making fabulous friends like you, whom I otherwise would never know. Makes the world feel a bit smaller and a lot more friendly.

I have a friend who went to KU! See, small world! And I can't help you with the straight line quilting issues - I've had it before and I'm stumped. But at least you're not alone!

  5. Oh, Jennifer you are a fabby quilting blogger and we love you! Congratulations on your 200th post! That is exciting! Love your house blocks pants bag. Regarding the quilting across and bumping up..... I wish I had an answer for that one. But I am getting pretty good at burying knots!
Thank you for the opportunity to win those festive fat quarters! I have been on a Christmas project kick and would sew love to use those on a table runner or stocking. Did you know there are only 74 days left until Christmas?

  6. 200 posts? I think I've read every one. You write your blog just the way I wish I could write mine. With humor and great information.
Oh my GOODNESS, girl, that pants bag is beautiful. You chose the perfect fabrics and the house. Perfect. You are SO talented and never give yourself any credit. Thank you for such a sweet gift!
Congrats on a weekend of sewing. You deserve it. That quilt is so pretty and it will be a finish!

  9. Congratulations on 200 posts! and keep up the good work. I love reading your blog. These pants bags will be famous one day. Perhaps you should have a map in the sidebar of all the places they've been sent to (no idea how to do it!) I don't know the answer to the quilt ruching either. Can you adjust the height of the foot?. Enjoy your weekend of sewing :-)

  11. I agree...those pants bags will be famous one day! How about a "pants bag page" on your blog showing where they've traveled to? Congrats on 200 posts. I always love to read your blog. I think that a lot of the ruching comes out in the wash...literally. When it's washed and you get the quilty thing going on you don't notice those areas.

  13. Wow - 200 posts!! Congratulations - that's quite a milestone! I am so glad that you decided to start a blog otherwise we may not have met. You really do make the best 'pants bags' around and anyone who has one is blessed. :) I'm intrigued by houses too and have a pattern in mind to make a 'house' quilt some day. Not sure why you end up with ruche 'cause I do too. I think in the end you won't notice it once it's all washed up and ready to go. It's a very pretty quilt!
