Coming along nicely :)

A Lovely Year of FinishesLinking this up as my April Finish :)

After my mammoth quilting and binding session on Sunday night, finishing 'Happiness', it's amazingly relaxing to be working on this cute little lapquilt for dear niece's partner's Grandma's 80th.

DH's Pétanque Summer League started tonight. Yes ... what ... Eh? The details are not important (well, it's not quilting!) but what it does mean is he is out every Wednesday night for the next 6 months or so ... who counts these things?? ... which means I'll get to have an uninterrupted and guilt-free weekday evening of sewing every Wednesday night ... Yay!!

Tonight, I finished the last 3 blocks of this 60" x 60" lapquilt and now I just need to sew all 9 together:

But before I do, can I please get your advice - would you add borders or say no to borders? If borders - what color and size? I'm not sure because there's already four different fabrics and the blocks are quite large. Here is a close up - each block is about 20" x 20":

Thank you, hope you're having a good week :)

  2. Blocks look gorgeous, Jennifer! Would def go with the light cream border, but then I like a border. But it would make the corner blocks stand out more, be a bit 'floaty'. I'd probably use the floral binding too. And of course, whatever you decide will be lovely :)
If you want some pink scraps, email me at madainnmhath(at)hotmail(dot)co(dot)uk, btw - its Gaelic :D

  3. I would like a border too. I wonder if there is a simple green polka dot in the right shade?

  4. This is very pretty. I like the way you fussy cut to place the roses in the block squares. I might not add a border. I think binding it in one of the flower prints or in a matching red tonal would be a lovely finish. Of course it is your quilt and you have brought it this far in all its loveliness that I am certain you will find the perfect finish. Thanks for sharing. Thanks also for stopping by my blog and leaving a kind comment. Your little kitty, Nell, looks very sweet ... :) Pat
