Stash in transit!

I'm a little bit sad today :(

We move house next week and, although the packers aren't coming until Tuesday, I've had to start packing up my sewing room. I could have left it for the removals men but I have a rule ... non-quilters are not allowed ... EVER ... under any circumstance ... to touch my stash. That's just the way it is.

First box, in went all the pinks:

And it just went on:

And on:

And on:

And I had some new fabrics to place gently in the box:

My shelves and baskets are empty:

It'll be a week before I can unpack ... a whole week before I get even half a chance to sew again :(

I'm going to head over to Karen's linky party for some therapy :)

Sunday Sewing ...

I've had a very productive day in my sewing room today working on a few different projects.

Now that I have a home for my 'Soldier's Quilt' (see here), I've been making some progress on that (will post photos next time) and I've also made the next strip on our Strip Bee. This is Round #5 and I'm working on Sarah's strip this time:

So many bright colours so these were my fabric choices:

And a little sneak preview:

Also, I've started making my first Pants Bag of 2014 for the daughter of one of the Strip Bees ladies, Fran (@ Patchy Rose). Can you guess what it's going to be:

And surprise, surflipppinsurprise I haven't managed to get to the end of January without some more fabric purchases! YES, all the receipts are in the tin:

In my defence, these 3 are crucial additions to my stash as they will make the backs to three quilts (2 x baby quilts, I've yet to start):

Sadly, the only one I can name is this one, which is 'Iony' design by Maria Kalinowski for Benartex (water C) which I'm hoping will back my soldier's quilt quite nicely:

I'm back ... and look what's on my lap already :)

We had the most wonderful time on our ski holiday in Avoriaz (France) - the four of us look forward to it all year then, sadly, it's over in a heartbeat. Please let me share a few photos with you:

Back safely yesterday and I finished quilting my 'lippy quilt', buried all the knots, attached the label and made the binding! I was so chuffed to find 1/2 yard of the love hearts fabric in my stash which I had used in the quilt so I think it's going to finish this off perfectly.

My favourite part - hand sewing the binding - expecting it to take a few hours!  Only 4 days to the retirement lunch - easy peasy:

Scrappy Sunday etc :)

We did have a wonderful Christmas in Wales and Chester with our fabulous family. We arrived back in London yesterday afternoon and I did some sewing today on my new 'spare' sewing machine and she pieces like a dream:

I have missed my sewing - it's been 11 days - definitely was starting to have withdrawal pains!! So as well as making a start on my 'Lippy Quilt' (that's her on the table above), I made 4 more of my 1/2 log cabin scrappy blocks ... all greens today as the green stash is almost catching up with my pile of pinks:

DH also bought me this amazing free standing lamp for the loft / sewing room as the light up there is not good this time of year:

And my dear SIL bought me some delightful fabric for Christmas:

And dear niece got me some Glinda ear rings!

Lots of happy memories to cheer me up as I return to work tomorrow :(

More Christmassy stuff and Scrappy Sunday :)

After church today, we delivered the advent calendar I made yesterday for the 3 daughters of our friends. The pockets are a bit on the small side so would only take one chocolate so DH bought an extra tub so that the sisters who's day it isn't to pick still get to eat a chocolate too ... bless him :)

I wanted to jazz it up a little bit so added some scrappy binding from my leftover binding basket:

Was about to leave for church when realised I hadn't taken a photo, hence DH coming to the rescue:

And the back:

This afternoon, I made four more scrappy blocks, still just totally at random picking up a scrap trimming it and adding another until there are 7 rows on each half log cabin, then trimming down to 7":

Still got loads and loads ... and loads of scraps left! In fact, I wonder if me looking at them has actually made them multiply because even after making 20 blocks, the pile is not going down :)

Next week, I'm going to a Christmas Meal with colleagues and there's the obligatory Secret Santa to participate in so I decided to make a mini Pants Bag which I'll fill with chocs. I took lots of photos today (I may write a tutorial next week, if you'd like one?), here's just a few for now:

And made entirely from scraps from dear niece's Christmas Throw (which just needs basting and that'll be quilted next weekend!)

Linking up with Karen at Sew Many Ways ... lots of loveliness to look at :)
