Our new home:
A new chapter in our lives in North Wales - and we are much closer to family after 26 years of living in London. On Wednesday, some of that fabby family helped me unpack 15 boxes in my new Quilting Room (frustratingly, I still can't move my right arm that well after breaking my shoulder 3 months ago) ... and in just a couple of hours all my fabric, books and magazines, WIPs and quilty stuff was out of the boxes - they know how much I love my hobby, bless them ... though apparently, I have too much fabric!
Judge for yourself - my new fat quarter drawer:
Over the last two days, I've moved and sorted, tidied and whittled stuff down as best I can. This room's not as big as my old sewing space but my oh my, I think it's magical ... what do you think? Warning - I've taken lots of photos:
Even Nell got in on the action:
LOVE it! Am so very lucky to have this wonderful space. Can't wait to start sewing in it! Maybe tomorrow ... but only after I've cleared the hallway - not so much fun:
Linking up with Amanda Jean and Sarah.
visiting from crazy mum quilts. Your house is amazing. We have nothing of that age here in NZ , you are so lucky. Love the quilting room.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right! It is magical....*dreamy sigh*
ReplyDeleteYour house is beautiful, and your room is looking so good. Can't wait to see what magic you do in your room.
ReplyDeleteMagical is right!! I am loving your new look. Before too long it will feel like home. I'm looking forward to seeing all the magic you will create in your new room. What a lot of hard work though getting it to that stage and moving. Hope you didn't overdo it with your arm and that you'll be able to start sewing soon. I like the look of your new home in Wales. It will me nice to be closer to family.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful space! I'm jealous. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm enchanted with your sewing room -- proof that it's magical, Jen! I especially love the casement windows and deep window seats. Very inviting and I suppose the light will be a benefit when choosing colors and such. It looks like you have it perfectly arranged, too. I hope your arm and shoulder feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous....... it really is lovely! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteYou are right, magical sewing room! (I do understand that the magic should extend to the hallway--just to make things easier.) I hope you get to stitch very, very soon!
ReplyDeleteYour space is magical and gorgeous. I love those windows and that corner hutch. It's all so pretty and neat.
ReplyDeleteBTW what does the fam know about how much fabric is enough? Only a quilter would be able to judge that with a true sense of what is needed and what is too much. Hope you get caught up soon so you can really enjoy the magic.
So very magical! I love this whole house! Your windows, and the pretty bits of furniture all around the room. I would just sit and chat with you while you sewed.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what else comes out of this pretty space of yours. More magic, I suppose.
That space looks so I inviting..love the wood beams. Happy sewing...and unpacking.
ReplyDeleteI am so in love with your home! How gorgeous. It looks to be centuries old! Lovely sewing room too.
ReplyDeleteThere is no such thing as too much fabric.
ReplyDeleteWow I love your new sewing space, looking forward to seeing what you create in there. Your new house looks amazing, I'm sure you will be very happy there. Whoever said you had too much fabric is obviously not a crafter - you can never have too much!! Have fun discovering the local quilt shops and topping up! I can feel a little fabric shopping trip coming on today. :) xx
ReplyDeleteFaboulus room!
ReplyDeleteI'm triing not to envy you too much!!!
Take care of your arm now and try to get som rest:)xx
I agree to the magic of your sewing room. All the little touches and all that fabric just make me smile. Cheers to your new place. I wish I could wiggle my nose and have everything unpacked for you, my friend. Don't do too much. There is a lot of time to get the unpacking done and your family sounds happy to help.
ReplyDeleteOhh I think it looks wonderful. I love how you've organized all of your fabrics, so so pretty.
ReplyDeleteOooh it is amazing I am well jealous. I have a stock room/ spare room but no sewing room with all my fabric & stash & more importantly my sewing machine.
ReplyDeleteI can dream that one day...
i quilt on the dining room table , so jealous
ReplyDeleteYay, it looks fabulous! Even better than the last room, it seems to have so much character. Enjoy every second :-)
ReplyDeleteWow your house looks AMAZING. I hate moving with a passion, but a place like that would make it worth it. Have you moved jobs too then? Your sewing space looks great as well btw.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your move- the house and sewing room look amazing - enjoy
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely home and such a fun sewing space. Wishing you many happy hours of creativity. As someone once said "There's no place like home!" :)
ReplyDeleteOh Jennifer it looks wonderful! And as Fran says, it has so much character!! I really hope I get to come and sew in it some time soon!! I hope you are settling in and enjoying every minute of your new home xx
