WIP Charity Quilt ...

I have only made a little progress on my Macmillan Cancer Support charity quilt (started here) - I did an hour last night and hoped to have finished the top tonight but after a 14 hour day at work, my weary legs can't make it up the loft ladder! 

I was going to go with a more fancy border but thought there was enough going on in the quilt without adding lots more seams ... well, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! Here's where I'm up to:

Linking up with Lee's WIP Wednesday, hosted  this week by the 'Paper Piece Princess' herself  Kristy @ Quiet Play - she really does the most amazing work - very inspiring. 

DH said he'd hang my notice board back up in the loft at the weekend because I'm losing track of all my promised projects. So far, I know these are on my things to do list:

1) At least 3 new cushions for SIL's conservatory

2) Pants Bag for the daughter of a friend

3) Strip Bee strip (round 3) to add to Maria's quilt 

4) Two baby quilts

5) Table mats and runner and 1 or 2 bedroom cushions for dear niece

If only I could sew all. day. long ... ah well, one day *sigh* :)

Busy ... but no sewing :(

We have had the most lovely weekend in Chester visiting family over the Easter Holidays and, sadly, it's nearly time to go home. Whilst I always love spending time with family, I have missed my quilting, especially as I have quite a list of things I want to make:

1) Cushion for Lucy at work (she stepped up when I was off sick recently so I want to thank her with a little gift)

2) Irish-themed quilt for friend in USA

3) Finish 'USA #4'

4) Start 'USA #5'

5) Cushion for brother-in-law's niece

6) Playmat for River Faith (niece's boyfriend's niece)

7) Peg Bag x 2

8) My sister's 'V' shaped cushion

9) Tote Bag(s)

Just a few things to keep me going, then!!

And as I can't possibly post without a photo, here is a little more fabric I bought for the Playmat on a lovely day out with dear Aunty G and hubby to Ruthin, North Wales on Saturday (no website but the shop is called 'Threads'):

That's about 6 different fabrics now I've bought for this Playmat - time to stop shopping and start sewing!! I'm really not sure yet what pattern to go with as some of the fabrics will require fussy cutting ... hmm, will have to get thinking - any ideas??

Shame I have to work for a living - so many quilt projects, so little time ... BIG SIGH!!

Progress on my UFOs /WIPs...

I have been busy ;) This was my list which I posted just over a week ago:

1) Finish the binding on USA Quilt #1 and post to my cousin in Maryland - posted yesterday

2) Finish piecing USA Quilt #2, make the backing, baste, quilt, bind and send it to another cousin - pieced, backed, basted and quilted today! Binding also made, just need to attach tomorrow ... stopped at 10pm so I could watch the snow!

Sneak preview:

3) Make a 'pink and dogs' cushion for my brother-in-law's Mum (I was going to make it as a little thank you for our yummy Christmas cake but now she's not well, I have two reasons to get this made.) Have to go fabric shopping on eBay ... dogs are tricky - cats are much easier to find! Done (and I got a lovely phone call from Helen to say thanks on her Mum's behalf)

4) Make a replacement conservatory Cath Kidston cushion for my sis (in law) as the sun has faded the one I made her last year (started yesterday!) Done and posted

5) Make some things (cushion, Pants Bag, Mobile phone neck pouch??) for my friend who's having a church fundraising day in February - Done - one cushion made so far (photo to follow)

6) Book another friend in for a birthday sewing day and we'll make her a cushion together - texted but no firm date yet ;(

Not bad going - and if we get snowed in next week ... ;)

2012 ... things to do!

It was a successful ski trip ... phew ;) Avoriaz was brilliant and a wonderful resort for beginners and those skiing for the first time after a broken ankle and we (nearly) all had a very safe holiday:After four days of gorgeous sunshine, the fresh snow began to fall ... and fall ... and fall! It was breathtakingly beautiful:

Before I went, I made Mutter a mobile phone 'neck pouch' (out of some scraps left over from her Christmas Quilt) - so that when I called her from France to see how she (and Nell!) were doing, she would have her mobile phone close by at all times:And whilst in France, I found this hiding in a little resort shop. Amazing that you can be all the way up there in the mountains and STILL find a quilting magazine! Dear husband,"But it's all in French!" Me: "Soooooooo ... I can still look at the pictures!"
